The Mayan Calendar made us do it!

          There’s been a lot of speculation on the Mayan Long Calendar, which ends during the winter solstice in 2012.  Many believe the Mayans were predicting a great change to the earth, whether apocalyptic or "enlightened change" remains the main mystery.  Also a mystery is whether it is a coincidence or Mayan prediction that their calendar ends around the time of the sun’s alignment with the center of the Milky Way.  Astronomers claim this celestial alignment will be the first such event in about 26,000 years.

            So, is 2012 the end of the Earth as we know it?  Will we become an enlightened species?  Will a new, recently undiscovered, longer Long Calendar be unearthed?

            We read in the Bible, that Jesus Christ said, …Heaven and earth will pass away... But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.  (Matthew 24:36 & Mark 13:32)

            So, we’re thinking, it’s more likely that the Mayan calendar maker tired of his work, ran out of space on the stone, expired, got fired or took up a new career in kite flying rather than created a specific time stamp on global cataclysm. We just don’t know why the calendar ends on that date.
